Winter Appeal 2018

Food poverty does not discriminate and this year we really need your help. Since April we have provided 20,781 meals

Whether young or old, able bodied or disabled, all go hungry when they find themselves in crisis. This year we have seen a significant increase in the number of single people and families who have had to visit us, which is why we are asking for people to donate from our Winter Appeal shopping list 2018 instead of suggesting specific Christmas food donations.  As fast as the donations have been coming in they are going straight out to those in need, which means we are very short on basic food items. Although Christmas food provides that extra special treat for those in crisis the food, our parcels creates a meal that can be eaten on any day, not just at Christmas.

How can I help?

Reverse Advent Calendar 2018

Advent calendars have become big business where people have gone from a picture behind a door to chocolate to now beauty products and alcohol.  Instead of receiving a gift via an Advent calendar, this year we are hoping that you will donate instead.  Download our calendar and collect the item on that day.  This has been designed so that you can do this for twenty-four days and not by dates on a calendar, though you can always follow that.

You can donate at the libraries in Braintree, Witham or Halstead. For the full list of local businesses and supermarkets please click here

Please be aware that the Foodbank warehouse will be closed 24th December so no deliveries or collections will be done on this date

Have a non uniform day and bring in an item from our shopping list

Why not run a non-uniform day with a difference? Instead of paying an amount to take part, why not ask children/staff to choose an item from our Winter Appeal list and donate it.

Bring a tin to work day

All you need to do is to encourage staff to bring in an items from the Winter Appeal list, or from the reverse Advent calendar, and then make your donation.  If you are a small or large organisation perhaps you could run a in house competition. For example the items on our lists have a weight which can be added up, this means that you could calculate the amount your donating and then see who can donate the most

Donate £24 pounds to help us to continue our work

You can make a difference by donating £24. This is £1 for each day of Advent.

It costs us £40,000 to keep our warehouse and offices running.  Without funds we would not be able to provide the help that we do in the Braintree, Halstead and Witham.

You can send payment in several ways.

  • Online
  • Standing Order Form
  • Or you can send a cheque made payable to ‘Braintree Area Foodbank Ltd.’ to our postal address.

Donate an item on our warm pack list

Perhaps you or your organisation choose to collect items from Warm Pack shopping list. For the last couple of years we have put together packs for those who are either homeless or needing additional warmth during the winter months.

Please be aware that the Foodbank warehouse will be closed 24th December so no deliveries or collections will be done on this date
