Halstead Freemasons support Town’s Foodbank

4th December 2017

Halstead Freemasons have donated £320 to help Braintree Area Foodbank’s distribution centre in Halstead supply much needed food and other essential items to those in food poverty.   The money was raised by members of Joshua Nunn Lodge who meet at Halstead and continue to play a major part in the local community.

The Halstead Distribution Centre, a branch of the Braintree Area Foodbank, continues to offer a vital service to local people in need and is open every Monday between 10.00 and 2.00 in the St Andrew’s Church Hall in Parsonage Street.    Food is given on production of a voucher and those finding themselves in food poverty can access food vouchers from designated agencies such as the Citizens Advice, Community Agents, Braintree District Council and One Support (Essex Floating Services).

Food, is donated by residents, churches and companies from all over the Braintree District Council area.

We are grateful to members of Joshua Nunn Lodge for donating this money, said Mr Everett. Many believe that in an affluent area such as Halstead then there is little need for a Foodbank but sadly demand for our services is increasing all the time.

The Foodbank donation is part of a continued commitment to the local community by members of Joshua Nunn Lodge who have been regularly donating to charities in the area for many years.
