Harvest Festival 2024

Foodbank's look to the local communities to help to stock our shelves so that we can help those in need over the winter.

Harvest is a time for communities to come together and  to donate to those who have less than themselves. However this year Harvest will not be the same.

We are all living with the effects of the cost of living with 1 in 7 people in the UK facing hunger due to a lack of money.  For the first time in it’s history Braintree Area Foodbank are having to buy at least half the the food needed to go in to its parcels where donations are running at an all time low, this is despite being giving a grant by Braintree District Council.

But all is not lost because Harvest is a time when you are most generous. You think about those who face food hardship this winter due to cuts in benefits, changes in the winter fuel allowance or just not having enough to go that extra bit further.  Your generosity knows no bounds.

So this year we have made our Harvest list shorter focusing on what one person would need to be fed for a day.
